I’m Jonathan Barker and I work as a mindfulness teacher in Oxford and the surrounding area. My first introduction to mindfulness meditation was in the late 1970’s. In 2012 I attended a Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy Course at the Oxford Mindfulness Centre. This re-kindled a deeper interest in the benefits of meditation practice as an effective means of helping with stress and negative thought patterns. It also opened the opportunity for me to train as a mindfulness teacher.
Since then I have trained with Breathworks & Mindfulness in Schools and am listed on the UK Network of registered mindfulness teachers. I run mindfulness courses to help people with stress and health issues as well as mindfulness in schools for teenagers.
I have taught courses to individuals and groups in and around Oxford including staff at the University of Reading, staff and residents at a homeless centre in Oxford and teenagers and staff at schools in Oxford. In 2016 I teamed up with a dementia expert. Together we were awarded a grant from the Oxford Mindfulness Centre to run an accessibility pilot project with people living with dementia and memory loss and their carers or staff at care homes. If you are interested in joining a group or doing individual sessions please get in touch.
