The Breathworks Foundation

Mindfulness and compassion for pain, stress and illness - helping people reclaim their lives

The Breathworks Foundation was established in 2009 to ensure that mindfulness and compassion training is available to everyone, regardless of circumstances. It brings to life the vision of Vidyamala Burch, Breathworks Co-Founder, who passionately believes that no person or community should be excluded from Breathworks training programmes and courses simply through financial or personal hardship. This is based on her experience of living with severe pain and disability all her adult life.

and support the inspiring work of The Breathworks Foundation, helping people to reclaim and transform their lives.

The Aryamati Bursary Legacy

Our bursary fund was established with a generous donation from Aryamati Olga Kenyon.

Aryamati experienced great benefit from Breathworks, helping her to live a full and active life despite severe chronic pain. She wished for others to likewise benefit but was aware that many of the people who most needed mindfulness were unable to afford to pay for it due to the limiting circumstances of pain and illness.

Aryamati passed away in 2014 and since then her generosity has enabled over three hundred people to learn and train with us who would not otherwise have been able to. We are dedicated to fundraising in order to continue offering bursaries to help others reclaim their lives by enabling them to learn the life-changing skills of mindfulness.

Breathworks has opened my world. It has given me vital tools to self-manage my condition and has helped me to regain my sense of self and self-confidence, feeling a valued member of society once again. The courses, retreats and teacher training I have participated in, supported by bursaries, have brought meaning and purpose back into my life and a renewed sense of hope for  the future.” Laura
