The Breathworks Foundation

Making mindfulness accessible

We are a registered charity, with a mission is to make mindfulness accessible to everyone. Being an organisation that gives back has been important to us from the very beginning. Our Founder Vidyamala was living on benefits for many years before she was able to secure funding through a disability grant to start Breathworks. We know that many who benefit the most from our services are least able to afford it, so we are committed to help those in need through bursaries, scholarships, free resources and other funding initiatives.

Support us today.

A huge thank you to everyone who has been supporting our fabulous NightRiders!

Your generosity continues to help drive forward each of our cycling challengers as they enter the final days of training and preparation before taking part in this brilliant charity event.

On Saturday evening, the riders will each cycle through the night and complete an exciting and rigorous 50km route! They will travel the city streets of Liverpool, around the Wirral loop and back again, all to raise funds for The Breathworks Foundation and to support our growing compassionate community.

Each amazing donation we have received enables our Foundation to provide vital training bursaries for future Mindfulness teachers and access to affordable courses to benefit those who need them the most.

We are currently closing in on our NightRider funding target and every donation, big or small, makes a huge difference. Our whole Breathworks Foundation team will be working extra hard in the run up to the NightRider event. They will make one final ‘BIG PUSH’ before the ride begins and they are so incredibly grateful for all your amazing encouragement, comments and continued motivation.

You can still support our riders, our Foundation and our compassionate vision by using the link below to donate.

NIGHTRIDER CHALLENGE - DONATE HERE

As our riding team begin their final training countdown, we asked them about their preparation before the BIG night:

Sona: 'On the last morning I’ll meditate and do some stretches and I’ll also be a bit anxious! I think I’m as worried about lack of sleep as I am about cycling the 50km. But I’ll also be excited as I think it will be loads of fun. I’ll make sure I eat well and get fuelled up and then head off to Liverpool to meet up with the gang.'

Karen: 'On the day of the NightRide I'm playing ping pong in the morning and going walking in Yorkshire the afternoon, both of which I will love and put me in a good mindset.  Then I'll chill out for a couple of hours early evening before we set off.  I feel as long as I have proper nutrition and good wheels then it'll all be fine.  I'm looking after the former with blood sugar balancing foods, including high vegetarian protein, and no caffeine whatsoever.  And the latter, well...the very thought of trying to keep up with everyone on my old mountain bike was daunting... a bit too much of my energy goes downwards into the suspension, the tyres are big and knobbly, designed for off-road.  I pondered on this for weeks and last Thursday took the plunge at the local Trek shop.  Very excited to pick up a new hybrid bike today.'

Vidyapala: 'I'll prepare on the day by meditating and giving my bike a good clean!'

Dave: 'I will be doing a couple of 15-mile training runs this week. On the day of the challenge I will be walking with my dog first thing then meditating for an hour. My eating will be a balanced mixture of carbs and protein. My bike has been serviced and I have purchased a pair of padded shorts. The rest is in the lap of the Gods.  I am quietly confident that I will be ok.'

Deb: 'On the morning I’ll have a bit off a lie-in, a big egg breakfast and then we'll head off to spend some time with Vidyamala and pick up Sona, on our way North. I’m borrowing my stepdaughter Amy’s bike, so I’ll have a ride around on Friday and work out the gears etc.  Hopefully I’ll have a good sleep on Friday too!!'

And for anyone looking for a quick moment of ‘Breathing Space’ here’s a link to a brilliant one-minute meditation with Vidyamala.

Huge thanks again to you, our amazing community, for ensuring success for Breathworks and The Breathworks Foundation.
