Mj is a Buddhist and have worked at the Manchester Buddhist centre since 1997. During that time he has enjoyed teaching many meditation and Buddhism classes. Hence he has been practicing Mindfulness for over 20 years, as he has very regular meditation practice. He particularly enjoy teaching in group situations and since qualifying with Breathworks as an accredited Mindfulness teacher he has taught many of the Mindfulness for Stress courses. Over the last 18 months he has seen many people benefit from these course and now have resources to work with their anxiety and stress. As well as being a Mindfulness teacher he is also an Alexander Technique Teacher. He trained in Kendal for 3 years and qualified in 2010. The Alexander Technique, known mostly as a technique to improve posture, is really all about mindfulness and becoming aware of our helpful and unhelpful postural habits. If we can use ourselves well we will function better, so mindfulness of our bodies as well as our minds will lead towards greater well being. So he enjoys using his AT skills combined with the Breathworks material. Its a recipe for success and offers very practical ways forward. This course will be co-led by Emma Tian Williamson Emma is a qualified mindfulness, meditation and yoga teacher with a fascination for how we can transform the way we respond to life’s experiences through awareness. She was drawn to mindfulness after experiencing burnout when living and working in Hong Kong; this became the catalyst for a two-year solo trip around the world which took her to silent meditation retreats in India, Buddhist monasteries in Thailand and plant medicine centres in the Amazon. Her mindfulness teaching journey began in lockdown of 2020, and she has since taught individuals in corporate, workplace, educational and (soon) festival settings. Her style of teaching infuses her interests and background in somatic experience, music, compassion practice, yoga and traditional Chinese movement exercises. For her, mindfulness is an ‘antidote for modern life’. What she loves most about teaching is passing on the tools that have helped her to live a more balanced, resilient and happy life. She enjoys keeping herself sustained by travel, books, podcasts and getting out into nature.
