  • Unlimited access to the course materials after your course has ended - you can revisit the course content and practices as often as you want!

HOW DO I TAKE PART?

  • Join a weekly live online learning session (recommended but not compulsory)

  • Watch, listen to and read learning materials for each week - at a time that suits you

  • Practise with the meditations - 10 minutes twice a day, for six out of seven days, over the eight weeks of the course

  • Talk to your classmates and teacher online about how you’re finding the course and how the meditations, mindfulness, and compassion practices are affecting your health and general well-being

  • The first week includes some time for orientation – we’ll provide guidance for you on how to use our simple e-learning platform. You will need access to the internet via a computer, smartphone or tablet.

Your Teacher

This course will be led by experienced Breathworks teacher Stanter Kandola

Stanter was diagnosed with severe Rheumatoid arthritis in her teens, Stanter Kandola – founder of ‘Open Mind’ – was told that she would end up in a wheelchair.  Instead, she embarked upon a journey of self-discovery and is now a freelance mindfulness teacher and coach, delivering mindfulness workshops and courses across Yorkshire.

For the last 29 years, Stanter has embraced a holistic approach to her health and wellbeing, exploring different ideas and techniques from established teachers such as Tara Brach and Ken Wilber, incorporating their teachings into her daily life.  She also discovered the practice of mindfulness.

An experienced and qualified manager, adept at coaching and training delivery, Stanter holds a BA in Social Anthropology (School of African and Oriental Studies University of London, 1997) and is a fully Accredited Breathworks Mindfulness teacher (2014).  In 2017 she trained with the ‘Mindfulness in Schools Project’ qualifying to deliver their ten-week Dot B programme to children. Stanter played a leading part in developing a pain clinic in West Yorkshire, which was nominated for an outstanding performance award at national level.

Stanter has delivered mindfulness sessions – either one-to-one bespoke sessions or group workshops – to local government; NHS staff; fostering services; Neurological Centre, Rape Crisis and Sexual Abuse Survivors services.  She is experienced in working with complex clients suffering from long-term health and mental health conditions, and trauma including Manchester Bombing victims. 

Stanter has defied her original prognosis.  She has walked on hot coals, lived on the River Ganges, meditated in the desert and by the ocean. 

She lives life to the full.

Concessionary Places 

There are a limited number of concessionary places which are available to people in financial hardship. As a guide we suggest this applies to people with an income of less than £17,000 a year. If your annual income is higher than this and would like to discuss your eligibility for a concessionary place for other reasons, please contact us.

Organisation Fee:  If your employer is paying for you to attend this course, the organisation fee for the course is £360.

We have found that some employers will release people from work to attend our courses, and in some cases will pay for them. If you wish to approach your employer for time off or for funding, we will be happy to provide a letter to verify your course arrangements and attendance and make suitable payment arrangements if required.

BURSARY PLACES

We have a limited number of bursary places for people whose situation and financial circumstances are such that they would not otherwise be able to afford to attend a course with us.

We want as many people as possible to benefit from Breathworks courses, and we ask you to consider how much you are able to fund yourself.  Subject to available funds, the charitable arm of our organisation, The Breathworks Foundation, will fund the remainder of the course fee.
