Online Introductory Teacher Training

One option for completing your TTi (introductory Teacher Training event) is in a fully online format. This online TTi event in a virtual group will be a perfect alternative for any Breathworks trainee teacher who might find it hard to access a face-to-face TTi event, trainees living far from our retreat venues, or anyone who simply prefers this way of learning.

This online training event will cover all the same material as a standard face-to-face TTi, and will fully satisfy trainees’ Stage 1 Teacher Training requirement.

To become a fully accredited Breathworks teacher, trainees must go on to complete Advanced Teacher Training - we have now developed an online version of TTa as well. Find out more about our full teacher training programme here.

With live weekly online learning sessions as well as resources and discussion forums that can be accessed any time, it offers a variety of ways for trainees to explore the learning content and exercises, and to interact with the training team delivering the event and fellow participants.

To participate in this online TTi training event you will need access to the internet via a computer, smartphone or tablet.

What’s Involved

Our online TTi runs over 5 weeks. During that time, you’ll:

  • Take part in two live online sessions each week
  • Engage with approximately 4-5 hours of self-study per week (reflective exercises, meditations, training videos and forum discussions) in your own time

Each week the live online training sessions will be delivered by experienced Breathworks trainers using easy-to-use webinar software:

  • on Monday evenings (6 - 8pm UK time), there’ll be 2 hours of live training delivery
  • on Thursday evenings (6 - 7.30pm UK time) there’ll be a one and a half-hour reflective session where you’ll discuss the week’s learning in smaller groups, facilitated by Breathworks trainers.

All the content of the online TTi course will be available on our virtual learning platform, so you can access the following at any time, from any time zone:

  • Recordings of the live learning sessions (however participants will be expected to participate in the live sessions and not only watch the recordings)
  • Guidance for that week’s self-study activities and practices
  • Additional learning resources and links
  • Group discussion forums where you will share reflections and questions with your trainers and fellow trainees between the live sessions
  • A learning community of fellow trainees from around the UK and the world

You’ll also have unlimited access to the study materials after your TTi event has ended - you can revisit the course content and exercises as often as you want.

In the week before your TTi begins, we’ll provide you with some orientation information, including guidance on how to use our simple e-learning platform, an online ice-breaker activity and a guided meditation practice – to help you feel fully ready to start your online training right from the start of Week 1.

Please note that live sessions will be recorded for you and fellow trainees to revisit - we do not share recordings outside your training group. We ask all trainees to keep their cameras on during training sessions, but if you need not to on occasion, please speak to your trainer before the session starts. The self-study elements are a compulsory part of this training, and trainers will check that you've completed them.

Live in a timezone that doesn't fit with our live TTi session times?
Don't worry, you can still participate in this online TTi even if you live in a time zone that doesn't fit with our live online training session times. Rather than get up in the middle of the night for the live sessions, you can do our Global Timezone online TTi option. This involves watching the recordings of the live sessions and having a one hour one-to-one personal session with a member of our training team to reflect on your learning during each week of the TTi. You and the trainer assigned to you will arrange five 1-hour one-to-one sessions to take place weekly at mutually convenient times via Zoom/Skype/phone. Please note that you will still need to watch all the recordings of the weekly Zoom sessions, as well as making posts in the course forums. So your overall personal learning time each week on this TTi option will be:
  • 5-6 hours personal study
  • 3.5 hours watching recordings of live sessions
  • 1 hour one-to-one with trainer
The Global Timezone online TTi fee is an additional £250 on top of the usual online TTi fee, taking the overall online TTi fee for people following this pathway up to the same price as a standard residential TTi.
Additionally: We have now added an early morning (UK) TTi which will also be suitable for different timezones, starting in November. Please see below for further details.

We're always seeking ways to make sure that people are not excluded from our teacher training due to their circumstances, and in addition to being a more accessible alternative to a face-to-face introductory training event for many people with disabilities, completing Stage 1 Training online has the advantage of being a slightly cheaper alternative:

    Organisation Individual Concession
    Stage 1 Face-to-face £2500 £1600 £1300
    Stage 1 Online £2250 £1350 £1050
    Stage 2 Face-to-face £2950 £2100 £1750
    Stage 2 Online £2600 £1750 £1400
