Meditation and mindfulness have had a transformative effect on my life, enabling me to manage anxiety and overcome depression, as well as enabling me to embrace and live life more fully. Before becoming a Breathworks accredited mindfulness trainer (in 2008) and coach (since 2016), I worked in the university sector as a lecturer and researcher. I became an Associate Trainer with Breathworks in 2013 and in 2016, I introduced Breathworks teacher training to Ireland. I teach mindfulness to groups – general public, community sector, workplaces – and to individuals. It is a huge privilege to support people in the development of a mindfulness practice and to witness the impact it has on their lives, and on their mental, emotional and physical wellbeing. I love working one-to-one with students, trainees and individuals, finding it a mutually enriching and often heart-warming experience that deepens practice and insight for myself as well as the other person.

Interests

Making mindfulness and compassion available to people to whom it may not be otherwise accessible – for example for financial reasons or because of lack of mobility.
Mindfulness and Compassion for managing the mental and emotional stress of chronic pain.
I have a particular interest in the effects of kindness and compassion and how they facilitate self-acceptance, trust and deeper connections to oneself and others.
As a parent of a young child, I have a personal interest in integrating mindfulness practice into family life.
Personal Practice

I have had a regular meditation practice since learning to meditate at the Dublin Buddhist Centre (part of the Triratana Buddhist order) in 2004. My main practices are the Body Scan, Loving Kindness/Metta Bhavana and the Mindfulness of Breathing. My practice helps me to manage the various challenges of (occasional) ill-health, family life and work, and it also helps me to appreciate and savour the moments of love, beauty, contentment and pleasure that arise throughout the day and that I might otherwise miss. I practice meditation and the dharma within the context of the Triratana Buddhist Order. I go on retreat at least once a year, and regularly attend various mindfulness workshops and training events to deepen and invigorate my practice.
