🙋‍♀ Suitable For: All experience levels, including those new to mindfulness

Overview

Jon Kabat-Zinn, founder of Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, joins Breathworks founder Vidyamala Burch for a conversation about awareness, pain and what it means to be at home in your own body. Includes a guided meditation and live Q&A.

What You'll Gain

  • Vidyamala's connection to Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction: her account of finding Full Catastrophe Living during a dark period of severe pain, and the two things it changed in how she practised

  • Guided meditation led by Jon: an invitation to treat awareness itself as home, including his instruction to meet whatever's difficult with a "welcome mat" rather than resistance.

  • Trauma-sensitive mindfulness: How it can support neurodivergence and emotional overwhelm

  • A Q&A exploring how to hold traumatic memory in awareness, acute pain during a medical procedure, and the difference between liberated awareness and practising “on the cushion” every day

Is This Event For Me?

This workshop is open to everyone, including those new to mindfulness. This recording will suit you if you're drawn to the wisdom of one of mindfulness's founding teachers, or if you're curious about what it means to make awareness your home, however difficult your circumstances.

Mindfulness teachers may also find elements of this session useful for CPD, particularly the discussion of depression as a disorder of thinking and its relationship to MBCT, and trauma-sensitive work.
