💻 Format: 1.5hr Online workshop
🙋‍♀ Suitable For: Mindfulness Teachers, Facilitators and Trainees

Overview

In this CPD workshop, Clinical Psychologist and Breathworks Associate Dr Louise Hankinson introduces the Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) Matrix: a simple pen-and-paper tool for noticing and sorting our experience, and for gently turning towards what matters most to us.

Louise walks through the core ideas behind the model, shows how it works in practice, and looks at how it can be used in different settings: mindfulness teaching, one-to-one work, and supporting teams. No prior clinical psychology knowledge is needed.

The recording includes a short mindfulness exercise, a live demonstration of the Matrix, guided troubleshooting, small-group practice, and a closing Q&A.

What You'll Gain

  • A working understanding of the ACT Matrix: what it is, where it comes from in contextual behavioural science, and how it helps us distinguish between our inner world of thoughts and feelings and our outer world of senses and actions.

  • A model you can use in your own life: Louise starts with the personal before moving to the professional, so you experience the tool from the inside first.

  • Ways to work with "stuck loops": how the Matrix can help notice the patterns we get caught in, and support movement towards what genuinely matters.

  • Ideas for applying it in your work: whether that's in mindfulness teaching, one-to-one settings, or with teams in the workplace.

  • Links to resources for carrying the learning on afterwards.

Is This Event For Me?

This session was created with mindfulness teachers, facilitators and trainees in mind. No background in clinical psychology is needed, and the ideas are introduced gently and from the ground up.

It may hold particular interest if you're drawn to how tools from behavioural science can sit alongside mindfulness and coaching.

Mindfulness teachers may find elements of this session useful for CPD, particularly the walk-through of the Matrix as a way to train present-moment awareness and to work with participants around values and stuck patterns.
