Highlights from our 22nd Year 30 October 2023 Lieben sie goosh goo 1. The Launch of our New Training Pathways Earlier in the year, we invited you to share feedback on our globally recognised Mindfulness Teacher Training programme, through online questionnaires and focus groups. With some careful crafting behind the scenes, we've reimagined this training to be even more flexible and accessible. We recognised that people join our Teacher Training for various reasons. Some aren't yet sure about teaching, but value the traininf as a way to really get to know the Breathworks content and deepen their personal practice. Others might not be thinking of delivering their own courses, but want to introduce simple meditations and mindfulness practices to their workplace, social circles, and community. Of course, many who train with us do so in order to become a fully accredited Breathworks teacher, delivering our tried-and-tested 8-week courses in their own authentic way. This October, we launched three new Training Pathways, enabling you to choose the modules that are right for you at this time, with the option to build upon your skills and teaching opportunities in the future. You can find out more about these pathways and our new Training Programme here. Don't forget: We host monthly Virtual Open Days, completely free of charge, as a way for you to find out more and ask any questions you have. Click here to view upcoming dates. 2. Mindfulness-Based Pain Management Reaches China This year, we partnered with 5P Medical to help share Mindfulness-Based Pain Management (MBPM) in Mainland China. Launching this saw Breathworks Founder, Vidyamala Burch OBE, give one of the the keynote talks at 5P Medical's recent mindfulness summit, reaching thousands of people interested in exploring how mindfulness can help people living with pain, stress and illness. In the summer of 2023, we launched our first 8-week Mindfulness for Health courses, translated in Mandarin and led by our brilliant Associate Teachers, Colette Power & Sophie Matthews. The course was very well recieved, with 23/24 students attending all sessions, and only one dropping-out due to personal reasons. Cancan from 5P Medicial, shared: "Mindfulness Based Pain Management is a very innovative course with good social value, and will also help many people trapped in Chronic pain. We will strive to introduce this course to people in the Chinese speaking region." What's next? With hopes to continue to extend our reach, our focus for 2024 will be to bring our Teacher Training programme to China to empower more people to share these life-changing skills with others in a way that feels authetnic and relevant to their local community. 4. In a new wave of medicine, healthcare professionals are turning towards "lifestyle medicine" as a way of looking at the person as a whole, and understanding how numerous factors such as diet, sleep, and stress-management work together to influence symptoms and quality of life. This year, we launched a brand new health-management programme, HEALS. This 10-week course was developed in-line with the real lived experience of our community, and their understanding of what helps to improve their wellbeing and quality of life when living with pain, fatigue and illness. Early evaluation data has shown statistically significant improvements across quality of life, anxiety, depression, total emotional distress and pain catastrophising scales. In Septemeber, course creator, Vidyamala Burch OBE, was invited to present these results at The British Society of Lifestyle Medicine Conference (pictured above). She even managed to catch a snap with much loved presenter and physician, Dr Rangan Chaterjee! Interested in learning more about HEALS?
